As modern technology and research changes what we can achieve in dentistry today, we are now pleased to be able to offer the very latest in Dental Veneers. This new technique allows direct placement of a single or multiple veneers for restoring anterior teeth, giving patients a natural result and a ‘smile to go’.

What are porcelain dental veneers?

Porcelain dental veneers are thin porcelain shells that are used to cover the front of teeth. They are matched to the colour of your existing teeth, and individually crafted to the shape of your tooth, giving a natural, discreet appearance. As they are very durable, and do not stain, they are popular solution with patients seeking to restore or enhance their smile.

Dental veneers are used to correct or restore the following conditions:

  • Severely stained or discolored teeth
  • Uneven spaces or gaps between teeth
  • Misshaped teeth
  • Chipped or worn teeth
  • Slight tooth crowding
  • Teeth that are too large or too small

How are dental veneers fitted?

Fitting dental veneers normally requires two visits.

At your first visit your dentist will create an impression (mold) and record the colour shades of your teeth. This information is sent to the the Dental Laboratory in order to custom make your dental veneers to the exact shape and colour required. Your teeth are prepared by lightly buffing the front surface of the teeth to allow for the thickness of veneers. Temporary dental veneers are then fitted.

At your second visit the temporary veneers are removed and your custom made veneers are carefully bonded onto the tooth using special bonding cements.  Occasionally a special light may also be used to set and harden the bond.

Is it painful?

Quite often it is not necessary to administer any anesthetic to fit dental veneers, however in some cases your dentist might choose to administer a local anesthetic to ensure that the entire process is pain free.

Dental Veneers are an excellent option for patients looking for a dental treatment that will dramatically improve their teeth, giving them a beautiful, natural looking smile.
